In 1942, the United States government ordered more than 110,000 men, women, and children to leave their
homes and detained them in remote, military-style camps. Manzanar War Relocation Center (located near
Lone Pine, California at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains) was one of ten camps where Japanese
American citizens and resident Japanese aliens were interned during World War II. Above are a couple of
buildings that used to house the captives. But apart from Jesus, we are all slaves and captives to sin. That is
why we need the redeemer to set us free.
John 8:34-36
Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in
the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (NIV)
