The Newspaper, especially in years past, was the primary source along with radio, where people got their information on what was going on in their community and even the world. The above photo shows a December 12, 1874 edition of the New York Ledger. It is a copy of one of the several editions that was printed of this popular weekly paper. The paper was founded in 1847 and ran until 1903. People back then as well as today love to read about local events and noteworthy news. It gave them a sense of connection to the community. Today, in our digital era, most people are now getting their news from the internet and other electronic sources. But the greatest news for all mankind can only truly be found in God's word, the Bible.
Luke 2:9-11
An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord."
