Glass bottles are a great way to store all sorts of liquids and other items. The Old Milk Man made good use of glass bottles years ago. One of the first glass milk bottles was patented in 1884 by Dr. Henry Thatcher. By 1889, his Thatcher's Common Sense Milk Jar had become an industry standard. Glass bottles are the best way to store milk and other food sources because glass does not break down and contaminate the food like the plastic and wax cartons that are used so much today. But because of the driving force of cutting costs and expenses for most companies, glass bottles will continue to become scarcer and scarcer There may come a day when glass bottles can only be viewed in antique shop windows and become a memory of Times Gone By.
